Two therapists work on you at the same time, in mirrored movements. An hour of that covers roughly what two hours of one person would, which is the practical reason most people book it.
The less practical reason is harder to describe until you have had one. With one therapist, part of your attention tracks where their hands are going next. With two working symmetrically, that tracking gives up almost immediately, and the result is a kind of mental quiet that a normal session takes much longer to reach.
Who it suits
Anyone short on time. If you have one hour and want the equivalent of a long session, this is the answer.
People who find it hard to switch off. If your head is still running the meeting twenty minutes into a normal session, the symmetry does something a single pair of hands cannot.
People with full-body stiffness rather than one bad spot. If the problem is localised, say a specific shoulder, a single therapist doing focused deep tissue work is the better use of the hour.
What it is not
It is not twice the pressure. The two therapists work at the same intensity you would get from one, just across more of you at once. If you want heavier work, ask for it, same as any session.
It also needs coordination, which is why it cannot always be arranged last minute. Two therapists have to be free at the same time.
Booking it
Ask a day ahead where you can, particularly for evenings and weekends. Weekday afternoons we can often do it on short notice.
The four hands session runs at Swiss Tower, Cluster Y, JLT. Sessions from AED 525, open 11:00 to 01:00 daily.
Men book through the gents area, which has its own therapists. If you are weighing this against warmth-led work, read the hot stone session page. The JLT guide has everything else.
FAQ
Is a four hands session twice as expensive?
It is priced above a single-therapist hour because it uses two people. Ask when you book for the current rate.
Does it feel strange?
For about a minute, then most people stop tracking it entirely.
Can I book it same day?
Sometimes on weekday afternoons. Evenings need notice because two therapists must be free.
Is it good for a specific injury?
No. For one problem area, a focused single-therapist session does more.
How long is it?
Sixty minutes is standard.
